Braces

Braces are the most common orthodontic treatment and, as a “tried-and-true” method, are an excellent option for almost everyone seeking orthodontic treatment. Braces work to gradually improve your smile, gently realigning your teeth until they have moved into their optimal positions. Braces are able to correct a wide range of orthodontic issues, including:

  • Crowded teeth
  • Gapped teeth
  • Misaligned teeth
  • Bad bites (crossbites, open bites, underbites, overbites, etc.)

When you receive braces, our dentist will attach a system of metal brackets, wires and bands to the surfaces of your teeth. The brackets are typically attached to the front surfaces and then connected to each other using wire and bands. As the wire is adjusted, it will slowly guide your teeth into position.

You will visit our dentist and team regularly throughout your orthodontic treatment to ensure that your braces are properly adjusted and are functioning correctly for you. Our team will also provide you with instructions on the best ways to brush and floss your teeth while wearing braces to help you maintain good oral hygiene. We may also make some recommendations on minor lifestyle changes during your treatment to help keep your smile healthy and prevent your braces from being damaged.

If your braces break or come loose, or if you experience another type of orthodontic emergency, please contact our office as soon as possible. We will make arrangements to meet with you and provide any necessary repairs to keep your smile on track.
